COMMUNITY ART EXHIBIT:
My Tour de France
by Becky Cook
I found the travel diary I used in 1998 when I went to Paris the first time. I didn’t think I would ever get to see the art in Paris museums in person. It was a real treat to go to the Louvre, the Dorsey, and smaller museums.
My French teacher in high school went to Paris every summer and brought back slides of various artist’s works. She would show the slides and have us take quizzes. We memorized the artist names and Madam Churchill would point out the subject matter, we learned about various French artists. I enjoyed the subject matter in the French class.
I enjoyed learning and it helped me to decide to take art history courses in college. Though I did enjoy the art course in high school, the college courses covered ancient times and taught me to dig deeper into the information. I learned about how the artists made egg tempura for paint on their walls in ancient times.
Since college, I have taken many courses at AVA to improve my skills as an artist including encaustic, oil painting, drawing, and watercolor.

Inn to Indie Book Tour of Wonder Year and Panel Discussion
Final Stop on the Inn to Indie Book Tour – Norwich, VT! Julie Frieder, Eydie Pines, and John Leigh have been cycling through Maine and Vermont, stopping at indie bookstores to share stories about epic family adventure. Supporting local bookstores, one pedal stroke at a time.
After spending 13 months on the road with her family, Julie wrote Wonder Year: A Guide to Long-Term Family Travel—a book born from the real experience of figuring out how to pull up stakes and hit the road for longer than a vacation.
“Wildly inspiring and eminently practical,” says Florence Williams, author of The Nature Fix.
Inspired by her friends, world travelers and longtime Norwich residents, Eydie Pines and John Leigh, Julie decided to take her book on the road, sharing what she’s learned about planning and executing adventures, finding education on the road, and discovering that travel doesn’t have to be perfect to be transformative. Julie, Eydie and John will bring stories from their autumn 2025 Inn to Indie Tour with the hope of sparking a lively community conversation about overcoming fear, pursuing adventure and cultivating curiosity and connection through travel.

Patient Choices VT Presentation
Vermont’s Patient Choice at End of Life Law (Act 39) was enacted in 2013. Act 39 enables people who are terminally ill and capable of making their own medical decisions to request and access medication (MAID) that they can use to bring about a peaceful death if they so choose.
Please join Patient Choices Vermont for a discussion of:
- How Medical Aid in Dying works: who qualifies for it and how to start the process of accessing it
- Act 39: what’s required under Vermont law
- Conversations: how to talk with your doctor and other medical personnel about your wishes and your plans
Our presentations provide opportunities to ask questions, learn, and share stories. They are life affirming and empowering, and designed to help everyone who attends one to become better informed on these important topics.
No registration is required, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
