VT Humanities SNAPSHOT – Ilan Stavans “On Forgetting”
Remembering is an obligation: we are who we are thanks to memory. Yet it is forgetting that allows us to navigate through life. Ilan Stavans—internationally-renowned essayist, translator, and publisher, and longtime Snapshot and First Wednesdays favorite—reflects on forgetting in art, literature, politics, and history.
Join author Ilan Stavans at the Norwich Library, presented by VT Humanities Spring Snapshot series.
VT Humanities Spring Snapshot series are free talks held at public libraries around Vermont and streamed online, September through May. January and February events will be virtual-only.
Ilan Stavans is Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities, Latin American, and Latino Culture at Amherst College, the publisher of Restless Books, and a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary. Translated into more than twenty languages, his work has been adapted into film, TV, radio, and theater. His latest books are SABOR JUDIO: THE JEWISH MEXICAN COOKBOOK (Ferris and Ferris) and LAMENTATIONS OF NEZAHUALCOYOTL (Restless Books).
