Museum Passes and Other Summer Travel Resources

Planning any adventures in the Upper Valley this summer? How about regional day trips, or excursions to Boston? Be sure to stop by the library to check out a Museum Pass.

Museum Passes offer free or heavily discounted admission to many attractions within and beyond Vermont, including:

  • American Precision Museum
  • Billings Farm and Museum
  • ECHO Lake Aquarium
  • Museum of Fine Arts (Boston)
  • The Shelburne Museum
  • Vermont History Museum
  • Vermont Institute of Natural Science
  • Vermont State Parks and Historic Sites

On the Way
Audiobooks, whether in CD format or downloaded through Listen Up! Vermont, are a great way to make those long drives and flights go by faster. Having just gotten dozens of new titles on CD, NPL is an especially good resource for audiobooks these days. But the library is also the place to go if you’re looking for recommendations for podcasts, or help installing them on your device. (We’re happy to help troubleshoot any issues that you may have with downloadable audiobook and e-books, too!)

Learn a Language

For those of you going farther afield–say, abroad–consider looking into the online language-learning program Mango. Mango is a free program designed to help you practice your conversational skills in Spanish, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Mandarin, Greek, Italian, or Russian. Whether you’re a total newbie, or you already have some experience with the language, Mango lets you learn at your own pace.
