Fall at the Library

Director Lucinda Walker’s letter to the community about library operations for the autumn

Welcome to NPL!

The COVID-19 Pandemic has changed our lives and how we operate. The staff at the Norwich Public Library want your visit to be as safe and healthy as possible. To ensure this, we continue to modify both library operations and policies.   The Library, and particularly the Children’s Room may look and feel different this Fall.  Our changes are informed by our understanding of how best to ensure the health and safety of our communities.

We have established limits on the number of people using each room of the library at any one time in order to prevent situations where people may gather too closely together. We have limited furniture and have removed some computers, toys, and games that previously promoted close gathering. With these furniture and computer considerations in mind the library welcomes quiet study

In the Children’s Room, we welcome eight (8) patrons at one time and will monitor these capacity limits through the use of passes at the top of the stairs. Everyone above the age of two should grab a brightly colored pass for your visit to the Children’s Room! We ask that you be mindful of the time spent so we can ensure all who wish to access materials may be able to do so without an extended wait.

We continue to welcome all visits to the library’s outdoor spaces, including the garden. There are a variety of seating in all areas surrounding the library. WiFi is free and open to all who access the property.

On behalf of everyone at NPL, we are thankful for the patience and understanding of all our patrons. We are happy to address your concerns or questions, and everyone should feel free to reach out to us at .

Stay well,

Lucinda Walker
