Big Tree Quest: Tree Identification Walk for Kids

Saturday, September 30th, 3-4 PM (Rain date: Sunday, October 1st) | Meet at the Gazebo on the Norwich Town Green

Join Lynnwood and Lindsay (of the Norwich Conservation Commission) on the Norwich Green to learn the basics of how to identify a plant, apply that information to look at common trees, practice measuring and describing the location of the trees, and participate in hands-on activities.

Age: Geared to elementary students, but older children are welcome as well. A parent, guardian, or responsible older sibling must accompany any child under age 9. All parents welcome!

Materials: Bring your tree guide if you have one, and a tape measure if you have one (extra tape measures available at the Library). We will be starting a tree journal. Please bring a small lined or graph paper journal (approx 6′”x 8″) if possible. We will have several extra on hand for children who don’t have one.
