Art History Social Hours at NPL

At our Art History Social Hours, Norwich Public Library brings a short art history talk accompanied by questions and conversation.

Laura Di Piazza holds a MFA degree in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. Laura teaches calligraphy workshops at Dartmouth College (NH) and Society of Scribes (NYC). Her primary practice is creating conceptual and abstract art, with a focus on social justice issues. A 2019 exhibition of her work, “Redlining Our Souls,” was presented at the library.

Wednesday, August 12, 6:30 PM. Life and Art of Paul Sample
Join us for an overview of the life and career of famed artist, Paul Sample. Educated at Dartmouth and returning as the college’s longest-serving artist-in-residence, Sample created depictions of the Upper Valley in the Regionalist and American Scene style. Presented by Sophie Richard.

How did women artists of the Cornish Art Colony pursue painting during the Gilded Age? We’ll dive into the work of Lucia Fairchild Fuller and Maria Oakey Dewing to learn about the artistic influences and contributions of the Cornish Art Colony to art history. Presented by Sophie Richard.
