Uncovered: The Art of Altered Books was held in November 2008.   The idea behind Uncovered was to explore the unique art form of altered books – taking a book that would otherwise be sent to the dump and turning it into something else.  Thirty-six artists participated, many of who had never worked in this medium.  The end results were remarkable.  Books became snakes, jewelry, a lamp, a chair and even a thong!

The community events included a talk by noted illustrator and author, David Macaulay, a “Make Your Own Altered Book” workshop for all ages and an artist panel discussion.

The auction, held the evening of November 20th, brought together the artists, their work and over 100 partygoers and eager bidders.  Uncovered raised $16,000 for the Norwich Public Library.
