Norwich Chess Club Shines in State Tourney
They made the town of Norwich look good. The Norwich Kids' Chess Club that meets regularly at NPL shone at the recent Vermont Scholastic Chess Championship with members finishing in the top ten at each grade level.
In the grade 1 competition, Romaney Granizo-Mackenzie placed fourth. Austen Janna Borg placed first and Gwynn Granizo-Mackenzie placed eighth in the grade 4 section, and Zoe Granizo-Mackenzie placed fifth among the fifth graders.
Dominica Borg is the club's coach. The team has met regularly in the Community Room at NPL. They are on hiatus for the summer but will return this fall.
