This 2014 docudrama directed by Ava DuVernay focuses on Martin Luther King, Jr. and the 1965 civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Among other accolades, it has been called “a stirring and thrilling film.” Nominated for four Globe Globe Awards and two Oscars, Selma gives us a thoughtful and timely glimpse into our history and provides the opportunity to kick-off a community conversation about today’s civil rights.
